2020 SUMMER THEATRE PROGRAMS

REGISTRATION FOR VIRTUAL SUMMER PROGRAMS IS OPEN! See the following for information and registration.

VIRTUAL SUMMER PROGRAMS

We hope you and your families are healthy and safe during this difficult time! Here at Brighter Connections Theatre, we are preparing for our 8th annual season of programming in collaboration with the University of Dayton Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology Program, and we hope you will join us!

The virtual programs will use Zoom. Links will be sent to registered cast members' parents and guardians.

Schedule for Ages 8-18:

You may choose one or both options.

Option A:

June 2 - July 9

Tuesdays and Thursdays

4:00 to 5:00 pm via Zoom

Cost: $20

T-shirt: Included

Parent Meeting: June 1 at 6:00 pm via Zoom (optional)

This group will be similar to our regular programming, in which we will follow a typical schedule saying hello, playing a game, moving our bodies, and creating sketches, writing monologues, improvising, etc. We hope to live stream a performance at the end for friends and family, so this option would be a typical commitment where we ask that cast members are present and that parents let us know in advance if students cannot attend the session online.

For registration, please see MEMBER FORMS.

Option B:

June 3, June 17, July 1

Wednesdays

4:00 to 5:00 pm via Zoom

Cost: Free

Parent Meeting: June 1 at 6:00 pm via Zoom (optional)

These 3 sessions will be offered separately from Option A.  A BCT instructor will lead the group through a workshop focusing on a specific skill.

For registration, please see MEMBER FORMS.

PEER CAST MEMBERS WELCOME

Would you like to make new friends, have fun, and be a peer cast member in our virtual summer programs? Please see MEMBER FORMS to register.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM (cancelled)

The BCT Youth program is a unique theatre program designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. BCT’s dedicated team of volunteers has been working with students ages 8 through 14 in the Dayton area since 2013.

Designed for students ages 8 through 14, this program runs for 6 weeks. During rehearsals, students will work with trained volunteers and staff members to create their very own show. The show features all students in a variety of student written sketches and performances, creating a sense of ownership and pride in each cast member. What sets this program apart from a typical youth theatre experience is the focus on each individual. Every piece of our program is designed to meet the needs of each cast member. Your child will receive social, behavioral, and communication skills training over the course of the six weeks through the use of theatre elements such as role play, games, sketch writing, and educational best practices to create both an effective and creative learning environment.

SUMMER YOUNG ADULT PROGRAM (cancelled)

In 2017, BCT introduced a program for children 15 to 18 years old. Now in its third year, this program will run for 6 weeks. During rehearsals, students will work with trained volunteers, peer models, and staff members to create their very own show. The show features all students in a variety of student written sketches and performances, creating a sense of ownership and pride in each cast member. The purpose of this 6 week program is to provide our high school aged students an opportunity to interact with peers in a safe, accommodating, and flexible environment. Participants will focus on social and independency skills through the use of theatre elements such as role play, games, sketch writing, and educational best practices to create both an effective and creative learning environment.
