2020 SUMMER THEATRE PROGRAMS

The 2020 summer programs will be similar to the 2019 programs. Please look for more information in February, 2020. Last year's program information is below for your reference.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM

The BCT Youth program is a unique theatre program designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. BCT’s dedicated team of volunteers has been working with students ages 8 through 14 in the Dayton area since 2013. Over the course of the 6 week program, cast members work in an accommodating environment toward meeting social and behavioral goals (set at the beginning of the program), using theatre games, improvisation, role play, and the process of creating a show.  The culmination of this 6 weeks of work is a performance that was developed entirely by the cast members and volunteers.

2019 Summer Youth Program Schedule

  • Rehearsals: June 4 through July 11 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.

  • Performances: July 12, 13, and 14, 2019

Please visit CAST for more information and registration forms.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.

SUMMER YOUNG ADULT PROGRAM

In 2017, BCT introduced their first move towards expansion by creating a similar program for children 15 to 18 years old. This program curriculum focuses on responsibility and independency as our participants move closer toward graduation age. This group uses a peer model learning experience in which half the cast is identified as having autism and the other half is not identified. Not only does this create an opportunity for students with ASD to acquire and retain skills by working and performing next to their peers, it also serves as an invaluable experience for students who have never had a disability to create a deeper understanding of the challenges that their peers face on a day to day basis.

2019 Summer Young Adult Program Schedule

  • Rehearsals: June 4 through July 11 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.

  • Performances: July 12, 13, and 14, 2019
