2020 SUMMER THEATRE PROGRAMS

REGISTRATION IS OPEN! See the following for information and registration.

SUMMER YOUTH PROGRAM

The BCT Youth program is a unique theatre program designed for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. BCT’s dedicated team of volunteers has been working with students ages 8 through 14 in the Dayton area since 2013.

Designed for students ages 8 through 14, this program runs for 6 weeks. During rehearsals, students will work with trained volunteers and staff members to create their very own show. The show features all students in a variety of student written sketches and performances, creating a sense of ownership and pride in each cast member. What sets this program apart from a typical youth theatre experience is the focus on each individual. Every piece of our program is designed to meet the needs of each cast member. Your child will receive social, behavioral, and communication skills training over the course of the six weeks through the use of theatre elements such as role play, games, sketch writing, and educational best practices to create both an effective and creative learning environment.

2020 Summer Youth Program Schedule

  • Rehearsals: June 2 through July 9 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.

  • Performances: July 11 & 12, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

SUMMER YOUNG ADULT PROGRAM

In 2017, BCT introduced a program for children 15 to 18 years old. Now in its third year, this program will run for 6 weeks. During rehearsals, students will work with trained volunteers, peer models, and staff members to create their very own show. The show features all students in a variety of student written sketches and performances, creating a sense of ownership and pride in each cast member. The purpose of this 6 week program is to provide our high school aged students an opportunity to interact with peers in a safe, accommodating, and flexible environment. Participants will focus on social and independency skills through the use of theatre elements such as role play, games, sketch writing, and educational best practices to create both an effective and creative learning environment.
